About
Investigative Mommy Blogger has a mission of reviving investigative journalism, but also evolving it. We will take the foundations, standards and ideals of traditional investigation journalism and merge them with the grandiose reach and impact of mommy blogging. The point? To prove that, despite traditional outlets increasingly abandoning important investigative reports that serve readers, it can still be pursued. Consider this Investigative Journalism 3.0.
We will do it by taking a completely different approach, using all of the best resources and ideals of both journalism and blogging. For example, we will:
Avoid the pitfall of newspapers. We will not have one person increasingly doing the jobs of more people. So many newspaprs have merged beats and responsibilities to the point that one reporter is now doing the job that 5 did a few years ago. We will do the reverse. We will have several people doing one person’s job, increasing the perspectives and allowing for greater accountability. It will also make it feasible for several moms to combine efforts for one great report.
We will have field reporters who are, quite literally, not hindered by geography. Our investigative mommy bloggers are throughout the U.S. even potentially the globe. When we launch an investigation, we have people with eyes and ears out in several locations.
Our tentacles will be far-reaching. We will have the reach of our investigative mommy bloggers, who are influential and can spread the word about important investigations like wildfire.

How will we be different than traditional journalism?
We will focus heavily on providing more than an investigation. Investigations will also provide resources and information to empower parents to make change and improve the world around us. In each investigation, readers will learn about concrete steps they can take to respond to what they read, whatever their opinion of the situation is.
Ultimately, we will also work to help others pursue investigative blogging. We will also give exposure to anyone who does so, be it a print publication or a blogger. If you would like to be highlighted in our Must-Read Investigations, please fill out the submission form at the bottom of this page.
This site is not about criticizing the wonderful journalists who are still struggling to pursue investigative journalism. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Its goal is to encourage everyone, print or online - journalist or blogger, to give readers more in-depth investigative news.
